A new historic route is coming to Train Sim Classic, and this time it’s by Suburban Glasgow Limited, covering the Buchan Line which ran from 1865 to 1965 (Passengers) & 1979 (Freight). While open, the route saw a wide variety of traffic like fish and cattle.
The developer went on to explain during the blog post by Dovetail Games that he had the assistance from the Great North of Scotland Railway Association, and friends Maud, who run the Maud Railway Museum, who have been a big help in providing source material and both stories and memories of the line, some of which have worked their way in to the scenarios provided in the DLC.
The addon will additionally come with 4 locomotives, along with coaches and freight wagons, all of which ran on the real line:
- BR Standard Class 2MT Steam Locomotive
- Sulzer Type 2 (Class 25) Diesel Locomotive
- Cravens DMU (Class 105)
- Class 08 Shunter
- BR Mk 1 coaches and a wide variety of freight wagons.

You can find out more about this route on the Dovetail Games blog here, where the developer explains more about the route.
