So far we’ve had three previews for the upcoming Highlands Fishing DLC for Farming Simulator 25, including its fishing mechanics, map, and machine fact sheets, and today we’re getting a fresh look at some more content coming in the DLC.
The preview from Giants specifically shows off the upcoming Highland Cattle, which will be available as a new animal. If you weren’t already aware, highland cattle are one of the oldest cattle breeds in the world, originally tracking back to Scotland where the upcoming DLC map is based, though they can now be found around the world.
Just like other animals in the game, the animal will have 3 growth stages/models, Newborn, Juvenile, and Adult.

At 6 months, Newborns will become Juvenile, and in the real world become much more active and playful. Giants have shown a GIF of the animal appearing to do just that, but whether this applies to only the Juvenile model is not yet known, though I suspect it will be.

Highland cows also have two coats in the real world, the outer layer, which is long and oily, which they are mostly recognized by, and then a dense under coat. Giants seem to have done a great job with the modelling of that outer coat in the sim, as they do look quite like their real life counterparts.
Highland cows are also known for being very docile and handleable in the real world, though sadly it doesn’t look like we’ll have any special petting features.

The Highlands Fishing Expansion releases November 4th for both PC and Consoles, and will cost roughly $31 (€26.99), making it one of the most expensive DLCs for the Farming Simulator series, ever. You can preorder it here.
If you don’t yet own Farming Simulator 25 there is a special Highlands Fishing Edition which costs the same price as the base game, but with the DLC included. You can find this here.
