While Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 dominate the PC market, Infinite Flight is the most popular mobile flight simulator available, and it’s due to receive a major update soon, improving graphics via a new rendering engine, and new aircraft.
With this update, Infinite Flight actually mention that it’s shaping up to be a much bigger update than they had first planned. While it originally started as a small update focusing on the aircraft selection UI and quality-of-life improvements, progress on the Piper PA-28 Archer and the new rendering engine came together much sooner than expected.
Given this, the team decide to combine the update instead of spreading them out, bringing the content pipeline forward. The 25.2 update is currently planned to bring the following:
- Piper PA-28 Archer: a detailed new general aviation aircraft, built in the updated content pipeline.
- New rendering engine: improved atmospheric lighting, shading, shadows, and overall visual realism.
- Streamlined content pipeline: the foundation for faster aircraft and scenery development.
- Visual improvements across aircraft, environments, and UI.
Piper PA-28 Archer Preview
Infinite Flight also provided some work-in-progress screenshots of the new aircraft, where you can also see the new rendering engine in action. It’s worth noting that with these being work-in-progress screenshots, things may change for the final release. Additionally, the screenshots are quite low resolution, so likely don’t show the graphics you’d actually be seeing in-game.

Rendering Engine
There are then some screenshots of existing aircraft in the new rendering engine, which you can see below. Just like the above, these are work-in-progress, so are subject to change.

A321Neo and 787
While not included in the 25.2 update, Infinite Flight also mentioned that the Airbus A321neo family is still on track for an early 2026 release, and that the 787 rework is also on track and being developed in parallel to the updates mentioned here.
New Minimum Requirements
Lastly, 25.2 will be bringing some new minimum requirements. Specifically, the simulator will now require Android 10 or higher, or iOS 16 or higher.
In closing
To end off the blog post by the team, they state that 25.2 delivers on the foundation they need to keep pushing forward with new updates. They also state that they’ll be sharing new screenshots and previews as the beta begins, which we’ll be sure to cover right here on SimulatorNews.com.
