Not long ago, we posted some previews of the upcoming Iceland DLC’s churches for Euro Truck Simulator 2, and today we have another new preview of the upcoming DLC, this time focusing on Route 1, which is also known as the ring road.
Route 1 covers the entire country of Iceland, in what the nickname might give away, a circle. The road is roughly 821 miles long, and is mostly paved. It’s also considered to be one of the most important pieces of infrastructure in Iceland due to it connecting the majority of towns together.
SCS notes that for players, this will be one of the main routes for most journeys, and with that, they have modelled many of the sights you’d see in the real world along the route, including the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, and Hvalfjörður undersea tunnel.

In the real world, Route 1 passes through 23 communities and settlements. While it’s not known exactly how many of these will be appearing in the DLC, there are a few below that have been mentioned by SCS in the past, including Reykjavik and Vik.
- Reykjavík
- Mosfellsbær
- Borgarnes
- Bifröst
- Blönduós
- Varmahlíð
- Akureyri
- Reykjahlíð
- Egilsstaðir
- Reyðarfjörður
- Eskifjörður
- Fáskrúðsfjörður
- Stöðvarfjörður
- Breiðdalsvík
- Djúpivogur
- Höfn
- Kirkjubæjarklaustur
- Vík í Mýrdal (Vík)
- Skógar
- Hvolsvöllur
- Hella

You may notice that in one of the screenshots below you can see the Aurora Borealis/Northen Lights, which seems to confirm these will be included in the upcoming DLC.
