Train Sim World 6 Released

Train Sim World 6 has officially released, marking the 6th entry to the simulation series. If you missed it, we covered a few deep dives on the Morristown Line and Leipzig route a few weeks back.

The simulator includes 3 routes, the Riviera Line, Morristown Line, and Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. The deluxe edition of the simulator also features 3 exclusive locomotives, the CrossCountry BR Class 220, NJ TRANSIT® ALP-45DP, and DB BR 294. If you’d like to know more about these routes and locomotives, checkout our post here.

New Core Features

Train Sim World 6 also includes 3 main new features aside from routes.

Random Events

Train Sim World now has random events when playing, some of these include:

  • Signal delays: When this event occurs, signals will take longer to update to reflect human-operation for updating signal clearance. Dovetail notes that this will only usually be a few seconds wait time, but due to the knock on effect, this can cause a knock on effect.
  • Temporary Speed Restrictions: Safety speed restrictions will now be randomly placed along a route, causing moments where you’ll need to adjust your speed for a short section of track. When loading into a route, players will be given a briefing to outline where all the temporary speed restrictions will be, so you can plan ahead.

These events can be disable within the simulators settings should you prefer to play with them disabled.

Train Faults

Train Faults are another new feature in Train Sim World 6. Having this option enabled will result in your train occasionally having an equipment failure. There’s currently 4 types of failures, depending on if your train supports them. They are:

  • Wiper failures
  • Lighting Failures
  • Tilting Failures (on trains with tilting systems)
  • Turbo failures (on trains with turbo systems)

When a failure appears, players will be given steps on how to resolve the issue. This may sometimes require you to leave the driver’s seat to reset a breaker.

Announcements

A highly requested feature throughout the Train Sim World releases has been announcements, and they’re finally coming to Train Sim World 6, in the form of both on-board and station announcements.

You might be wondering if you’ll be able to hear these announcements when driving, and the answer is yes, if you choose to. Dovetail have added an optional, toggleable speaker inside the cab in the Settings Menu, so that anyone wanting to hear announcements whilst they’re in the cab can do so. Dovetail has provided a short video showing off this feature below.

Editions

The game comes in 3 edition, regardless of which platform you are playing on. There’s also a free starter pack for players.

Free Starter Pack

Like in previous years, there is a free starter pack available. This pack allows new players to get a feel fore TSW, and gives access only to the train center route, along with unbranded versions of the Class 66, 8F Steam Locomotive, Class 323, BR 146 + Dostos, and SD40-2 Diesel.

This pack is additionally available to owners of previous Train Sim Worlds, and allows you to play Train Sim World 6 with any routes you own in older titles, you just won’t receive the new routes and trains as you would if you purchased the standard edition and up.

However, just like last year, there’s a catch. This starter pack will only be available from 6 weeks from today’s date (September 30th to November 11th 2025), after which point you’ll need to purchase the simulator to get any of the new core features and fixes.
